Ksoltar was an ancient dragon prince that spent much time in humanoid forms to better understand them. He settled on the form of an elven thief in an attempt to better understand the motives of humanoids and to have information on how to protect his hoard from their evolving intelligence and their greedy nature. Learning the ways and desires of human kind, he learned they were not to be trusted, in general, but there were those that gave them a purpose in the greater scheme of things. They showed great promise and if they could be taught to harness the inner strengths of their nature, they would do great things. Great and potentially terrible things but still great. He believed they needed to be guided and led till they were able to understand the true power within themselves. His memory has images of battles from 2 clans of dragons but there has always been one dragon family and these images confuse him. He spends his quiet hours and days sleeping and pondering his dreams, trying to understand them.
Through the course of his travels he met many races and learned many languages. His preferred forms are his biped form, and elven form, when he travels in the lands of the bipeds. He is from a long line of warrior dragons and has knowledge of human magic, from his time apprenticed to a human wizard. He also has his knowledge of natural magic.
Ksoltar has a natural distrust of dwarfs and their love of gold, (although they can be quite tasty). Elves he finds interesting due to their contemplative nature even though they tend to be a bit boring with no sense of adventure. His experience with vampires is limited but he finds them an interesting study due to their long life spans and particular view of life, or the lack of it perhaps. Halflings and kender races is a subject best kept away from his hoard and him as they are in general too curious about things that belong to others.
He met Dhelorah many Milena ago, he knows, but a lot of his past is a faded memory. It only appears in dreams to remind his inner dragon so the mistakes of that time will never be forgotten (or repeated). He has spent most of his time, since the great war, sharing caves with his mate as they traveled and avoiding the other races as he had already learned to be suspicious of them. He moved his hoard to the lands near Arador, where they found others of their kind. From here they could watch the nearby lands of Yu Lung, which was home to a clan of mixed races called Jade. He had hopes that he, and those he had gathered to join him in noble concerns, would be able to live peacefully and not be hunted or be targets of wizards. (who often seek dragons for their knowledge of magic and the magical properties found in their horns and scales)
Now, on the subject of wizards, the afore mentioned wizard he was apprenticed to found out what Ksoltar really was and has become determined to gain the dragons secrets. He has chased him and sent an assortment of creatures and mercenaries to harass him and to steal his treasures. This is an ongoing problem he has dealt with and has so far been successful in defeating the enemies sent to him. He has made many friends and many enemies in his time since hatching and always keeps a watchful eye out for them.
While observing the land called Yu Lung, Ksoltar has found them to be of like mind and thoughts. They and are kind and have a respect for dragonkind. He and Dhelorah have brought the remains of their dragon clan and what is left of the Royal dragon family to the mountainous area near this land to begin rebuilding the dragon family and to gather all they can of the remaining dragons to learn and share knowledge between dragonkind and humanoids. Still, he is haunted at night by the forgotten memories of his past and something he just can't quite remember that keeps his soul unsettled and restless.
