Welcome to Dawn of the Fourth Age, a fantasy-inclusive, Tolkien-based role-play group.
our universe
our universe
* Tolkien based - We are set early in the Fourth Age, shortly after the end of events in Lord of the Rings. All Tolkien races (good guys, bad guys, and neutral) are welcome. Original characters are encouraged. We have story-lines running both in Middle-Earth and in the Blessed Lands.
"Calling All RPers"
* Fantasy-inclusive - Fantasy races which could plausibly have evolved or could co-exist with the Tolkien universe are welcome - mer, drow, centaurs, fauns, etc. Plausible mixed races allowed.
* This is a medieval/high fantasy setting.
* Family-friendly - While some stories include "mature" plot elements, we maintain strict role-play limits. (See "Policies, Procedures, and Protocols".) Subject to local sim rules, child avs are allowed, under wholesome circumstances. If you want gore, Gor, or large doses of sex, you won't be happy here.

In general, the Dawn of the Fourth Age role-play is linear, narrative, and semi- structured. We are, together, writing a great story.
* Linear - Our role-plays follow continuous story-lines, and continuity is important. What happens to your character becomes part of your character's permanent history. The archive of completed role-plays is an important feature of Dawn of the Fourth Age.
* Narrative - Our role-plays are text-based. Descriptive writing is encouraged. Props, animations, and HUDs may be used, but the emphasis is on the writing.
* Semi-structured - All story-lines are generated by the players themselves. The players generally discuss among themselves what they want to happen, at least in the near future.

We welcome new players who want to join our collaborative story-building.
We hold regular discussions and classes on role-play techniques and how to add depth to your character. ("Superheros" actually make boring role-play characters. An ordinary character, thrust into dramatic circumstances, give you much more to work with.)
