Code of Arms

Sakura Easterwood and  Lihan Taifun

We know rules are often boring to read, but knowing these will keep you safe from being told off. How cool is that?!
But on serious matter: Please read these carefully, to avoid trouble.

- General Rules
- Weapon Rules
- Armor Rules
- Additional Rules for Dragons
- Additional Rules for Balrogs and Ainur

- No Godmodding
-----------------------
1) This means you can't always hit or avoid, just cause you are not wearing a meter. Play it fair and take hits when needed.
This also means you can't use more powers than you have and you're not invincible unless you specify it in your character sheet and if the roleplay commission approved it.
2) Do not ever rule a different person's character. They are not puppets and have their own mind.

- Weapon Rules
-----------------------
1) Only weapons you would see in the LOTR series are allowed. Think of: Swords, Axes, Bow and Arrows, Daggers.
For a clear idea of what is and what is not allowed: If it wasn't used in the Middle Ages, it can't be used here. We do not allow modern weapons like guns and rifles and the like. If we catch you with these you will be taken out of the fight till further notice.
2) In case you are using a crossbow, remember it may be powerful, but loading is also slower than a bare bow and the range will be fewer.
3) If you use a bare bow, you will need to be experienced to be able to shoot fast. If you didn't have a good training in it in your background, remember you got to learn still. Same goes for aiming. If you aren't practiced, aiming will be off.
4) In both cases, the aim will be influenced by the distance. Even the best archer will have a difficult aim with 50+ meters
5) Heavy Melee weapons have the advantage to do more damage then a small sword, but here also counts: The bigger and heavier, the harder to wield. You'll need to be strong and it will slow you down and tire you faster.
6) Throwing weapons: Though they are ranged weapons, they aren't able to go as far as arrows, aren't as powerful and aim will be sufficiently less on greater distances. On a distance of 10 meters you will have to be exceptionally good to hit target. Also when you move it will influence your aim.
7) If you use magic, IM Lihan Taifun or Sakura Easterwood for details.

- Armor Rules
-------------------
Light Armor:
1) Light armor would include Leather and Fur. These will be light and allow you to move rather freely, but the protection will not be very high. It will also wear out faster then the heavy armor as it is made of soft material.
2) Because light armor is soft material, it will not protect against arrows, thrusts or stabs and thrown weapons.
3) Fur would protect against Cold Attacks, but it will burn away with fire. And it makes it harder to run away than with Leather.
4) Leather will be no protection against fire as it would melt, against cold it will be small protection for a limited time. But running away is easier.

Heavy Armor:
1)Heavy armor will have a better protection, but it will also slow you down, tire you faster unless well trained and might get in the way of some weapons. Also if you fall wearing heavy armor, getting back up will take longer.
2) Heavy armor is hard material, so it will stop most thrusts, stabs and arrows, but heavy weapons will still cause serious concussions and broken bones. It might stop you from getting "cut" by a sword, but you still take the force of the impact.
3) If an arrow is shot from close range it could still go through heavy armor.
4) If you would want to wear a combination of light and heavy armor and need to know the rules, contact either Lihan Taifun or Sakura Easterwood with your questions.
5) Allthough heavy armor protects better against swords and the like, it is no good against a dragon or Balrog. The heavy armor is made of an iron, meaning that if a Balrog or Dragon attacks with fire it will heat up and eventually burn you. If it gets very cold of Ice Attacks it will also harm you.

- Additional Rules for Dragons
--------------------------------------
Okay, let's be honest, Dragons are powerful beings.
We disadvise against challenging them but for the brave souls that would still like to challenge them and the dragons themselves...Please read these rules:

1) The skin of dragons is very tough and therefor will give a little more protection than heavy armor. However, close range arrows or spears can still penetrate a dragon. They are not invincible.
2) The weapons of a dragon are mainly their claws, teeth and breaths. Claws can penetrate just like a sword, but heavy armor does protect some against it.
3) The breaths of a dragon are powerful, but will not be able to for example incinerate a person. They can however deal great damage and have additional effects depending on the breath.
4) If the tail is used it can't cut or penetrate, but it can be used like a heavy blunt weapon.
5) The eyes and mouth are vulnerable. They are weak points even for a dragon. As well as the belly.

- Additional Rules for Balrogs
---------------------------------------
Brave adventurer (or maybe foolish, that line is thin)
So you want to challenge a Balrog? Alright it is not high on our list of recommendations but if you insist and to the Balrogs of 4th Age: Please read these rules or may Lord Eru keep you safe...

1) Balrogs seem to favor firewhips. These won't do amazing damage, but they are highly capable of causing burns adding additional damage. The more you are hit by the whip of a Balrog, the more damage you receive.
2) Balrogs may be powerful and have a body of rock, they are still vulnerable cause of their fire. Water or Ice Magic will cause great damage on a Balrog if cast correctly. A smart Balrog will stay away from bodies of water.
3) Balrogs can fly a little but to avoid any godmode characters, they aren't very powerful fliers.

Additional Rules for Ainur
-------------------------------------
Ainur are peaceful beings that won't fight unless their land is really threatened. So players, let's try not to anger the Ainur now shall we? If a fight does occure, here are the rules for Ainur and their foes:

1) Ainur will not attack, unless their land is in real danger or against demons and Balrogs. They will NEVER attack Mortals.
2) Though they are angelic beings, Ainur too need armor to stay safe.
3) Ainur can get hurt just as mortals, in this case they will be out of the battle for the day. Though they heal considerably faster.
4) Ainur that get killed can make their new body the next day.
5) For additional powers but conventional weapons, please contact Lihan Taifun or Sakura Easterwood.
