The swanship sped ever west. Eventually the docks of Sylvhara and Queen Comet’s castle slipped over the horizon far behind. Elenwe tended to Olwe, both of whom were below deck and out of the wind. It was turning to winter in these mortal lands, something Nole has become accustomed to experiencing during his centuries as a trading merchant. Night had fallen, stars blazed forth from clear, deep pools of blackness. Nole saw to the rigging and steering, the fierce winds flapping through his robes in the dark night.
His King’s voice echoed in his thoughts. The gentle voice, filled with words of wrath. Ever since that fateful night when Olwe wandered and disappeared, the night he picked up his king's pearled circlet, Nole had been intent on finding his beloved monarch. But now that he has finally found him, an invisible wall has seemed to rise between them. And now, the ritual…, tears welled up in his eyes.
Nole shook his head. This is something that must be done. He walked into the hold, and saw his king resting. Elenwe looked up, while tending him. Even in this state, he was regal, benevolent, and kind. On his brow rested the crown of pearls, and with it, the wisdom Nole has known for countless centuries. He did not doubt his king’s wishes. He only hoped that one day, this evil threat will be contested, and the Children of Illuvatar will be victorious. He thought of having Teleri Tequila with his king and new-found family in the tavern. One day…
Nole returned to the deck. Voices echoed in the cold, fierce wind as it blasted over the whitecapped waves. Far to the north, shimmering curtains of light danced across the sky, through which the stars clearly shone. “Aurora” Nole muttered, using the human word he learned for the lights. He bowed his head in prayer, hoping someone hears it as the lights shimmered across the heavens.
