Cinnamon Raymaker
Elwing wakes from a restful slumber and makes her way to the forest floor, ruffling her hands through her hair to bring some semblance of order to the chaos. She wanders silently through the undergrowth towards the inn and pours a drink from the huge barrel. Cradling the tankard in both hands, she carefully walks to the sandy beach and sits drinking in the sights and sounds of the morning and the taste of the refreshing ale. She hears the sound of the seabirds chattering excitedly above her, picking up stray words here and there: "swan .... ship ... sails.." She smiles and shakes her head thinking she must be hearing things. Emptying the tankard, she slowly wanders back to the small inn and picks up bread and an egg. Savouring the food as she slowly chews and swallows, taking the edge from her hunger, Elwing muses over what she should do this day.
Suddenly she hears the seabirds becoming more and more excitable, chattering away loudly and circling overhead in greater numbers. Wondering what is amiss, Elwing races to the shore to check. Looking toward the ocean, she sees a ship approaching the Isle of Vana. It looks remarkably like the swanships of the Teleri, yet a little different somehow. It has anchored but a small distance from the shore.
Knowing the water here to be rather deep, Elwing wonders whether she should take the small wooden boat nearby and explore the ship or wait until the traveller finds some way to reach the shore. She peers closely at the ship but cannot see any sign of movement. Elwing feels a sense of excitement rising within her at the prospect of perhaps finding a way to continue her journey to find her uncle, if the traveller proves friendly. Without another thought, she jumps into the small wooden row boat and paddles away from the shore to see what her future might hold, a small group of sea birds chattering around her as she moves closer and closer to her goal.
