Elwing is the daughter of Dior Eluchil (a mix of mortal and Maia) and Nimloth (Sindarin), being half-elven but counted as belonging among the Sindar or Grey Elves. Elwing is noted for saving a Silmaril from the destruction of the Havens Of Sirion. She also appealed, with her husband Earendil, to the Valar for their help for the people of Middle Earth.
She and Earendil made their new home in the west at Aman. Here Elwing spent much time with the seabirds and mixed among them. She lived in a white tower on the shores of the Sundering Seas.
