Nienna travels back to Alqualonde following Manwe's summons, and locates her brother in Alqualonde. Upon hearing of Manwe's orders, the two Valar travel to Sylvhara to learn more about the conflicts which threaten their peace. Within moments, they arrived in Queen Comet's conference room, and meet the Lady of the Realm of Sylvhara.
"Lord Irmo, Greetings," welcomes Queen Comet. "Lady Nienna, welcome."
Molly Pexie blinks as she see the Master of Visions and dreams appear. Irmo says, "Greetings Queen Comet"
"Good Queen! Greetings," responds Nienna.
"Standing nearby is Lady Molly, Fae Guard," introduces Comet.
"Greetings," says Molly.
Irmo nods to Molly. "Pleasure to meet you."
Nienna offers, "I am sure you are well served."
"Other Fae Guard will join us. I am sorry to say that Sylvhara is under attack at the moment. The Guards are to secure the castle."
Nienna exclaims, "That sounds serious! Is this a poor time to visit? We should let you see to your defenses."
"I am afraid if we do not meet now, that conditions will be worse later. This castle is far from the border area." Molly Pexie listens quietly. "Please be seated when you may."
"Thank you." That Vala of Compassion settles gracefully into one seat on the couch. Irmo also takes a seat."Thank you, Queen Comet"
Nienna asks, "What is this war that is bothering your land? The healer Dominique said something about dragons, but I admit I did not understand the whole story."
Queen Comet shifts her gown to settle her clothing into place. Irmo adds, "We are here to discuss with you this situation. Lord Manwe sent us here to speak with you."
Queen Comet nods. "Yes, the dragons have divided into factions" Molly Pexie is watching and listening. She continues. "There are a group of them who have turned against all who walk on two legs, or the 'bipeds,' as they are called. The other group are the dragons that love and protect us. Humans, elves, dwarves, the biped races. We have been under regular attack from the aggressors. It has caused a great deal of damage"
"Dragons," Irmo says. "Do you have any ideas as to why they have turned against others?"
Queen Comet says, "This issue is causing a distraction that is allowing the Shadow forces to build"
Irmo asks, "So you suspect that there is a larger evil agenda at work in your realm?"
"It sounds false to me. The reasons were manufactured by a red dragon named Inquisitor. He seems to lead the others. He claims that his brother was killed in an attack from the bipeds. Yet, his brother lives," She raises an eyebrow to punctuate her point. "Another dragon named Terrek seems simply to be unhinged...sunk into madness. Between the two dragons, they have formed a leadership of sorts. I know there is a larger evil. I just do not know if this dragon uprising is involved. It seems renegade. The larger evil is the abyssal Lord Nargoroth."
Irmo responds. "I see. However evil has many threads through which it could work: it could be related to the larger evil."
"A greater evil could still make use of local discord." Nienna frowns.
The Sylvan Queen nods her head. "Nargoroth is a power not unlike the ancient Sauron of long ago. Living on another plane for the moment but seeking and entree to this world. He weaves his threads like a spider."
Nienna glances worriedly at her brother. "Spirits on another plane, seeking to return to this world .... That sounds very much like ..."
"Like a ... spider." Irmo nods and notices his sister's glance.
Comet continues. "The Nightmares Tears open a portal to his world from which his creatures may enter."
"Nightmare Tears?" Nienna asks, "What are Nightmare Tears?"
"They are the deadly flowers that turned my dear cousin Olwe to madness. The ritual saved him"
"The Nightmare's tears are a portal? To Nargoroth's evil?" Imro asks.
The queen nods. "Yes, Lord Irmo. Wherever they grow, they open a door to Nargoroth's lair."
Irmo says thoughtfully, "I believe the success of the ritual was a concern of our Lord. He suspected that the failure of evil's motives on Olwe through your actions may lead to attacks on your realm and person, Comet."
Comet agrees. "Yes, well, the Shadow Lord seeks to control us and dominate our world. He is never happy when he is foiled"
Nienna adds, "He would be pleased enough to let rogue dragons do his work, here."
The Queen of Sylvahara nods in firm agreement. "Oh, indeed. He is no fool and would save his own resources while a renegade group cleared some of the forces for him"
"Is there any way we can help you, in this war? The Valar cannot interfere directly, but ... is there any aid you need?" Nienna asks.
"Please allow me to think on it. Perhaps I might confer with Olwe. There may be ways to support us without interference"
Irmo listens, then responds. "Of course, Queen Comet. Let us know how we could be of assistance."
Nienna replies, "I expect the Dark Forces are not intending to leave Olwe in peace, either."
Comet frowns in contemplation. "I was not prepared for an offer of assistance. My reply needs to be thoughtful"
Nienna answers "Of course. Do think on it. Dominique can always send us a message."
The Queen of Sylvahara nods. "Yes...yes... I shall, indeed."
"By your leave, we will confer news of your situation upon our Lord, and hopefully he could think of a way to aid as well, if that is his will," Irmo tells her.
"Yes. Thank you for your concern and for your visit."
Irmo rises. "Thank you for your allowing us to visit."
"I am honored."
Nienna says, "Thank you for taking time, in the midst of your difficulties"
"May Eru's blessing be upon you, your people, and your land," Irmo says with a bow.
"I am pleased to deliver you safely from my kingdom tonight." Comet smiles wanly. "Farewell and thank you."
Nienna says as she departs, "Farewell, brave Queen."
Nienna and Irmo are led safely away from Sylvhara. In a quiet copse of trees and away from others, they confer with each other and quickly conclude they must return to their Lord Manwe in his hall and deliver what they have learned.
